Andreas Katsakos’ images is an exceptional example of positioning the photographic practice in the realm of "madness" rather than of "tameness". According to these categories, suggested by Roland Barthes in the epilogue of his book Camera Lucida, the spectator confronts the dilemma of what s/he should choose to "see/apprehend" in a photograph. Andreas Katsakos takes particular care of underlining the medium’s inherent quality to approach places and meanings that are connected with reality through a relationship which is affinal in terms of likeness/form , however is vague in terms of verbally / conceptually defining it.
His photographic practice keeps a distance from the potentially and perceptually diffident, meek, sequacious, tame image; he rather goes after the perceptually daring, illogical, misunderstood, mad image. Katsakos serves/submits to the medium, shaping/entering reasonless places.

Οι εικόνες του Ανδρέα Κατσάκου είναι ένα εξαιρετικό παράδειγμα τοποθέτησης της φωτογραφικής πρακτικής στην πλευρά της “τρέλας” (madness) παρά της “ημερότητας” (tameness). Οι κατηγορίες αυτές, προτεινόμενες από τον Roland Barthes στον επίλογο του βιβλίου του Φωτεινός Θάλαμος, βρίσκουν τον θεατή αντιμέτωπο με το δίλλημα του τι να επιλέξει να “δει/κατανοήσει” σε μια φωτογραφία. O Ανδρέας Κατσάκος φροντίζει να υπογραμμίσει την ενγενή ικανότητα του μέσου να προσεγγίσει τόπους και νοήματα που διατηρούν με την πραγματικότητα μια σχέση συγγενική φορμικά μα αόριστη λεκτικά/εννοιολογικά.
Η φωτογραφική του πρακτική απομακρύνεται από την αντιληπτικά - εν δυνάμει - άτολμη, πράη, πειθήνια, εξημερωμένη (tame) εικόνα και μάλλον κυνηγά την αντιληπτικά παράτολμη, παράλογη, παρεξηγημένη, παράφρονα (mad) εικόνα. Υπηρετεί/υποτάσσεται στο μέσο, σχηματίζοντας /διεισδύοντας σε τόπους άλογους.
